The Health services in Governmental Hospitals is free in Nepal but the treatment in private sector is too expensive for poor Nepalese to afford. Poor people of Nepal, they can't even fulfill their basic needs then how can they afford such an expensive health service.
The population of Nepal is increasing day by day. The total population of Nepal today on 19 Sept. 2018 is 29,611,397 according to the Central Bureau of Statistics . There are 7 provinces, 77 districts, 6 metropolitan and 11 sub-metropolitan, and more than 200 municipality and yet the number of governmental hospital is not even 100. There are just 88 Governmental hospitals in Nepal. They are also not evenly distributed in every part of Nepal. Many places are still deprived of Health facilities.
In the big cities like the city where I live, Biratnagar, the governmental hospitals is very crowded and mismanaged that people prefer to visit the private hospitals. The private hospitals are good in infrastructural condition, managed and doctors are also always available there but they are extremely expensive.
Some days ago I had a pain in my abdomen so I went to check up in a private hospital. The fee for the doctor was Rs. 500 there whereas in the governmental hospital the fee for the doctor is not charged. So a person who is struggling to live either has to wait in a long queue and visit the mismanaged hospitals or pay the large amount of money in private hospital, just for the charge of the doctor, which he earns in a month.
First of all, the people don't get proper basic needs due to which they get checked up. This increases the morality rate and also a number of people suffer from many diseases by being untreated. Some private teaching hospitals provide free O.P.D and many other facilities but they are not enough. Not only about money proper hospitals are only present in the city areas. People need to travel a long distance to get treatment and after then too they need to wait in a long queue.
In my point of view the governmental hospitals should focus more in its management and establish new hospitals in the areas which is far from the main city area so that every person who seeks treatment may get proper treatment that he needs. Isn't it what we pay taxes for ? This is the common problem of us all while visiting hospital not only poor we middle class family need to spend all our savings and money in the private hospital for our treatment so that we can get the treatment fast and easy. This is the condition of us all in Nepal.
